Two Chinese Men Arrested for 100 Million Naira Bribe in Sokoto

Reports from Nigeria says the EFCC has arrested two Chinese Nationals living in Nigeria for 100 Million Naira bribery. The two men, Meng Kun and Xu Koi, according to Premium Times offered the bribe” in a bid to compromise ongoing investigations of a construction company, China Zhonghao Nig. Ltd, handling contracts awarded by the Zamfara State Government between 2012 to 2019″.

According to EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewole, the two suspects were arrested this past Monday in Sokoto with the cash they were offering as evidence.

The arrests were made in connection with contracts awarded to China Zhonghao Nig. Ltd, for the execution of state township roads “in Gummi, Bukkuyun, Anka, and Nassarawa towns of Zamfara State and for the construction of 168 solar-powered boreholes in the 14 local government areas of the state”.

Further statements from the EFCC, show that their investigation came out of intelligence reports involving  “alleged conspiracy, embezzlement, and money laundering against China Zhonghao Nig. Ltd.

“Similarly, an investigation was launched into the construction of 168 solar-powered boreholes in the 14 local government areas of the state”.

The first installment of the N50 million bribe was offered in cash to EFCC officials through the entrapment they set up”.
