Open Letter to Abike Dabiri-Erewa

Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission

May 10, 2020

Dear Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa

Many of us read your comments in an article published by Sahara Reporters and we also agree with your drawn conclusion when you said that China does not want Africans in their country. I write to you this open letter to suggest that since you are the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, that you use your office to suggest to the appropriate Nigerian authorities to immediately as a matter of urgency to begin repatriating Nigeria Citizens who may be stranded in China. I do not live in China, but I know many Nigerians in China and some tell me of the agony they face currently in China as a result of their African Heritage. Many Nigerians are facing undue hardship in China and some are stranded in China. Not all may want to leave China but that option should be available to those Nigerians who want to leave.

Part of the responsibilities of the Nigerian government includes looking out for the general welfare of Nigerian citizens everywhere. China as we all know is not a democratic country; decisions made by the Chinese must be approved by the Chinese Communist Party. There is a disconnect between what the local Chinese government is saying many seem to be in denial with regards to the open discrimination and segregation meted out against Nigerians and other Africans living in China, using the disguise of Coronavirus as an excuse. Coronavirus originated in Wuhan Province in China and one wonders how Nigerian immigrants could be targeted for importing Coronavirus to China, this is beyond logic.

I have attached a link to an article written by me discussing in great detail the plight and predicament of Nigerian citizens in China as we speak I hope you can seize this opportunity to consider and act on my appeal as delineated in this letter.
