The trial of Nnamdi Kanu is going nowhere as case has been postponed till April 5th according to latest reports. The postponement resulted from an appeal from the “counsel for stay of proceedings”. The filling was made by the lawyer for Kanu, Mr. Chuks Muoma to allow for an appeal proceedings against the court’s ruling permitting a secret trial to use masked witnesses to testify against Nnamdi Kanu
Such unprecedented Kangaroo Court request for masked witnesses has been described by many Nigerian civil rights groups as a dangerous precedent which should not be allowed to hold. The prosecution counsel Mr. Mohammed Diri acknowledged he has received a copy of the “stay of proceedings” filled by Kanu’s counsel, and claims he needs more time to respond to the motion.
The presiding judge, Justice John Tsoho adjourned the case until April 5th for a hearing of the defendant’s motion.Nnamdi Kanu and co defendants face trumped up charges involving allegations of treasonable felony, maintaining an unlawful society and illegal possession of items.
