A group of worshipers leaving a north London mosque has been injured by a van which crashed into them, leaving a “number of casualties”, UK authorities said.

A statement from the Metropolitan Police read the incident took place just after midnight local time on Seven Sisters Road, Finsbury Park.

 The victims were worshipers leaving a nearby mosque after Tarawih prayers, performed during Ramadan.

The Muslim Council of Britain said in a tweet: “We have been informed that a van has run over worshippers as they left #FinsburyPark Mosque. Our prayers are with the victims” “One person has been arrested after a vehicle was driven into a crowd of pedestrians in north London late Sunday night, London’s Metropolitan Police Service said in a statement. There are a number of casualties being worked on at the scene,”
