Abia Indigenes Congress in South Africa to Attend Igbo Language Festival in Baltimore

Abia Indigenes Congress in Johannesburg South Africa

The South African based Igbo Organization; “The Abia Indigenes in Johannesburg, South Africa” has contacted the organizers of Igbo Language and Cultural festival about their interest in participating in the Festival being planned by ICOTTH USA in collaboration with Africa Business World. Speaking with Prof. Okechukwu Oranika, Hon. Chima Onyeagbau Umealo, the President of Abia Indigenes in Johannesburg Gauteng, South Africa,  assured me that their Organization will be coming to Baltimore to support this great Igbo initiative come August.

The news was received with great pleasure by the ICOTTH USA President Chief Stanley Onyedum, and the Planning Committee Chairman Dr. Laur Nnamdi Onyekwere on behalf of the Planning Committee of this International Igbo Cultural Festival. The festival is part of the measures originated in the Igbo Diaspora to help stem the demise of Igbo language and its usage. It has been enthusiastically welcomed by Igbos both at home and abroad. The festival features among other programs the ICOTTH USA annual Iri Ji Festival, Igbo cultural dances, Igbo language workshops, Symposium for discussion of current issues affecting Ndi Igbo, and much more.

Event Date: August 5th through 7th, 2016

Place: Coppin State University, Baltimore Maryland, USA
